Total superannuation assets were $4.1 trillion at the end of the March 2025 quarter, decreasing by 0.8 per cent over the quarter.

MySuper products had an aggregate $1,075 billion in assets, spread across 57 MySuper products as at the December 2024 quarter.

Employer contributions

Employer contributions totalled $36.7 billion for the quarter and $147.1 billion for the year ending in March 2025, a 10.3 per cent increase compared to the previous year. This is in part due to the Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rate increase to 11.5 per cent from 1 July 2024, employment growth and higher wage growth.

Member contributions were $10.1 billion for the quarter and $55.7 billion for the year ending March 2025, 26.9 per cent higher than the previous year.

Benefit payments totalled $30.6 billion for the quarter and $127.5 billion for the year ending March 2025, a 11.6 per cent increase compared to the year to March 2024.

The rate of return (ROR) for entities with more than six members was 5.0 per cent for the year to March 2025. The five-year average annualised ROR was 8.1 per cent.
